Back in 2022, Dourie was delighted to play host to Noel Banville who is a student at University College Dublin. Noel was on a work placement, keen to learn more about the dairy sector, having grown up on a beef and arable farm in County Wexford.
Upon completion of his placement, Noel was required to write a report of his time at Dourie and his project won him the Paul Mulhere medal. This medal was established in memory of Paul Mulhere, a member of staff in the former Faculty of Agriculture at UCD who died following an injury sustained during a hurling game at Croke Park in November 1985. The award is presented annually to the Stage Three BAgrSc Animal and Crop Production student who achieves a Distinction grade in the Professional Work Experience module and who, in the opinion of the examiners, achieves the most outstanding performance while on placement.
Enormous congratulations to Noel from Rory and the rest of the Dourie team. Noel is now in his final semester and is planning to study for a PhD once he completes this course. Good luck Noel.
